Honestly, once the flash bulldoze has been formatted and organisation files added to it, you would barely be able to fit 1 Xbox One game on it anyway.

Every bit I mentioned, I would use for Xbox 360 games only. So we are talking virtually what? 10GB per game? more than or less... so I recollect my suggestion can be notwithstanding reasonable.

I think access and read/write speed is the reason why Xbox I doesn't support Flash storage for Xbox One. Not all Wink drives are created equal. If pocket-size flash storage was usable for games on the Xbox One, consumers would try to use any old cheap storage for games. This could cause seriously long loading times, pauses, skipping and such. Even when Flash drives were supported on the Xbox 360, that console had to exercise a quick test of the storage to encounter if information technology meets the minimum requirements.
At present, technically speaking, If Flash drives were able to be used on Xbox One, and, if you used the right type of storage device, yous could play any game from a Wink drive on Xbox One - You tin can meet videos of PC games running from USB Flash drives on YouTube.
The trouble is, the Xbox Ane isn't a PC and most users aren't technical with these kinds of things. So, to insure a less troublesome process, Microsoft went with external USB 3 HDD's and SSD'southward only. Probably because 99% of these drives meet the speed requirements of Xbox One. Capacity isn't the outcome, speed and reliability is.

USB drives aren't meant for constant writing and erssing
The More yous use a usb drive the more it degrades
Aforementioned with a SSD or HDD it simply takes much longer to happen on a HDD or SSD not to mention speed and reliability
USB pen drives aren't meant for long term storage
They are just reliable for five years on occasional storage
For.constant HDD storage expect less then a year
You lot can really check that the stats online
HDD tend to terminal 5 years on PC and it depends
More contempo years HDD last longer merely however USB pen or solid land drives accept never changed in life expectancy
Each time yous write and erase you are constantly changing the physical properties of the wafer because information technology'due south such a small wafer you don't have much surface to article of clothing down
Hence the shorter life
HDDa tend to spread it over time on multiple spindles
Consoles and PC'south tend to write and read alot

Well the betoken here is that y'all tin can use USB iii.0+ 256Gb+ Pendrives to install things on xone. Word is not about if it is recommended to do or not, neither why choose a pendrive in society to a SSD or HDD plugged in the USB. If we offset awaiting the discussion for whats is right and whats isn´t, we will end speaking about why xone internal HDD is not meant to exist replaced by the user or why the games (specially on 10) are so big in size and the HDD is notwithstanding 1TB (scorpion version here).
Microsoft for case wants you lot to join game pass with a long listing of games, and the space to install them? A 1TB disk with about to 780GB usable from fresh start? I really hope that in hereafter my Sandisk Ultra 3.1 128GB could be used for at least, my 360 retro games.

For the price of two 128GB flash drives, you could buy a 1TB external hard drive. Seems like a 'no brainer' to me.

Using a regular 128GB wink drive would give you probably worse operation than the internal hard bulldoze due to how they work. Information technology would probably be and then tiresome you lot couldn't stand information technology.
A difficult drive or SSD is what you need and the 256GB minimum is designed to brand you get a hard drive and not use flash storage, because they know that those small devices don't accept the random read speed needed to play games on.
